National Cinema Day 2023

National Cinema Day

National Cinema Day, slated for the upcoming Friday, October 13th, promises an unparalleled cinematic experience for enthusiasts across India. The celebration unfolds with an enticing offer, as movie buffs can secure tickets for as little as Rs. 99 per person, a token gesture of appreciation for their patronage throughout the year. This initiative, reflecting this year’s remarkable box office earnings, is a testament to the enduring love for cinema.

In a recent tweet, PVR Inox shed light on the unique dynamics of National Cinema Day, emphasizing that the affordable ticket pricing of Rs. 99 is not a universal privilege. South Indian theatres in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh find themselves bound by state laws, rendering them unable to participate in this cost-effective celebration. Furthermore, the tweet highlighted the opportunity to indulge in pocket-friendly concessions on food and beverages exclusively on October 13, contingent upon the chosen venue or platform.

Last year’s National Cinema Day, marked by reduced ticket costs, gained widespread global media coverage. However, this year’s discount, unlike its international counterpart, does not extend to premium seating selections such as IMAX, 4DX, and recliner seats in India. The event, which witnessed an impressive turnout of approximately 6.5 million people starting from the early hours at 6 a.m. the previous year, has seen a modest increase in ticket prices from Rs. 75 to Rs. 80.

In a proactive move, the Multiplex Association recently announced plans to host a cinematic extravaganza across more than 4,000 locations in India. Renowned multiplexes such as PVR Inox, Cineplex, Miraj, and Citypride are set to participate, alongside other venues like Asiatic, Mukta, and A2. Notable exhibitors, including Movie Time, Wave, M2K, and Delite, are also joining forces to make this event a nationwide celebration of the cinematic triumphs of the year.

Expressing gratitude and extending a warm invitation, the Multiplex Association conveyed their thanks to the loyal moviegoers who have supported them. Their tweet read, “We want to thank all the moviegoers who have supported us and extend an invitation to all those who have not yet returned to the local cinema.” It’s a call to unite people of all ages in a collective celebration of the cinematic victories achieved throughout the year.

The unique charm of National Cinema Day lies not only in the reduced ticket prices but also in the inclusive nature of the event. Families and friends can now relish their favorite movies together at an affordable price, fostering a sense of community within the realm of cinema. Access to this special offer is facilitated through online platforms such as BookMyShow, PayTM, and others, making it convenient for audiences to seize this opportunity and immerse themselves in the magic of cinema on this special day. National Cinema Day, beyond the discounts, emerges as a unifying force, celebrating the art of storytelling and the shared joy it brings to people from all walks of life.
